Empire Records

"Empire Records" is a comedy movie about a day in the life of the employees of an independent record store as they try to help poor Joe (Anthony LaPaglia), the manager who really wants to buy the place, to keep the record store independent and not converted into a branch of Music Town, a large and generic franchise music store.

"Empire Records" was directed by Allan Moyle, Written by Carol Heikkinen and stars Anthony LaPaglia, Maxwell Caulfield, Robin Tunney, Renée Zellweger, Rory Cochrane, Ethan Embry, Debi Mazar, and Liv Tyler. "Empire Records" was released in the United States on October 20, 1995.

The Empire Records soundtrack was released on August 22, 1995, it is a fine collection of mainstream alternative pop/rock.

Coyote Shivers' "Sugarhigh" that included on the soundtrack differs significantly from the version of "Sugarhigh" that appears in the movie. The main differences are that the movie version has additional lyrics and chorus vocals provided by Renée Zellweger and it is musically one semitone lower than the CD version. Coyote Shivers played the lead singer of the song in the movie.

Singles

Singles is a 1992 romantic comedy movie written and directed by Cameron Crowe.

Singles is about a group of six young people, mostly in their 20s, live in the same apartment building in Seattle, Washington. Their lives revolve around the growing Seattle alternative music scene of the early '90s. It focuses on the couple Steve Dunne (Campbell Scott) and Linda Powell (Kyra Sedgwick), who meet at an Alice In Chains concert and eventually fall in love.

The Singles soundtrack included music from key bands from the Seattle music scene of the time, such as Soundgarden, Alice in Chains and Pearl Jam. Nirvana was the only major grunge band of the time to not appear on the soundtrack.

The soundtrack is primarily focused on the ascendant grunge scene of the early 1990s. The Singles soundtrack is a terrific introduction to the Seattle sound/grunge music of the early 1990s. It was released on June 30, 1992.
